What can I use for proof of military service?

Active Duty

If you are currently active then you need to include an original statement of service signed by or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters. This statement must include a date of entry for the your current active duty period and the amount of time lost is any at all.

Reserves or the National Guard

Regardless if you served on a regular active duty or in the selected reserves you will need to use Standard Form 180. If you have any questions about this process, please contact us for assistance.

How long is my Certificate of Eligibility good for?

Certificates of Eligibility are good until use. Many lenders require that you get an updated certificate within 60 days of closing to verify that it has not been used

Can I get a VA loan if I have no credit?

Yes, you can still be eligible for a VA loan with no credit. You are required to prove that you have paid for four items with no problems for the last year. Items such as rent, cable, insurance, cell phones, or any other liability that we can verify you’ve had timely payments for on a monthly basis. Am I eligible for VA loan if my spouse served in the military?

It is likely that you could be eligible for a VA home loan, given that your spouse has died while on active duty or due to a service related disability. If you meet these requirements you are also exempt from the required VA funding fee.
